Hey everyone, many Porsche's have sound enhancement to add to the driving experience. In this video I discuss the Soundaktor and Sound Symposer's found in various Porsches. I also explain how they can be disabled. I was especially intrigued how the Sound Symposer still can be controlled by the PSE button even when using the Track Nanny to force exhaust open all the time. Watch, like, subscribe - especially if you learned something!

I'll watch this a bit later when I have a little time. The sound tube do-hickey was my least favorite thing on my old 991 Turbo S. It would open up in sport mode, causing a very noticeable, unpleasant drone in the cabin at cruising RPMs. Your choice was a drone in sport mode, or a PDK that lugged the motor in the (so-called) normal mode. Some folks were physically blocking them off, but I never got around to it. Interestingly, that car has only the sound tube thingie, without any exhaust flaps like most PSE systems. Makes total sense to me that the sound tube still works with the Track Nanny though, since the Track Nanny intercepts the signal right at the solenoid for the flaps (leaving all other PSE-related signals in place.)

Thanks for the effort put into the video.
A couple notes:
The Soundaktor design changed for the 2019- models. (Turbo 4 Cars get Soundaktor)
The Soundaktor can optionally be coded 0-100 % as opposed to pulling the fuse.

Ahh, that may explained why the two pictures I had found were different. Good info on the coding.

Great video, thanks for documenting the differences. I believe the 992 is easily accessible after removing the engine cover but it’s too cold at the moment to investigate.

@JetFuelOnly

Thanks for that video Danial and for thanks for the additional comments from the others too.

To me the GT4 sounds fine as is (with the exh button activated). I like that it's just a tube passing limited real engine sounds rather than an electronic speaker or other kind of artificial enhancement. Also, it's good that you can turn it off by deactivating the exh button. The differences are subtle to me, so I always have the exhaust button on because I love the way the car sounds!

I mentioned elsewhere that, unlike other vehicles I drive, I never use the radio in the GT4. No matter where I'm driving, just listening to the car while enjoying the special experience is heaven.
