Oil change for my GTS

In discussing other topics it occurred to me that I hadn't changed the oil in my GTS 4.0 since the dealer installed they engine last August. I've only managed to put a bit over 2000 miles on it since then but that means about 2k on the engine. So...I figured today would be. A good time to change it.
I put it in the air using my MaxJax and removed the gazillion fasteners holding the under tray on. In so doing I discovered the tech left off one screw when replacing it after the engine swap. I managed to remove the filter without spilling but a few drops of oil and everything went as planned, but replacing the under tray took two tries, first time I was just too tired to hold it overhead long enough to start a fastener. I must mention here that while the oil was draining I washed my wife's 540i, so factor that in plus my age(74), so not too bad.
In another post I said the oil filter on my '70 240Z was so easy to change I only had to lean over the side of the engine bay to reach it. That got me thinking as cars have progressed rge "simple" things aren't anymore. When I was young it was easy, now that I'm old it's much more involved. Progress? Well, Porsche will preform the next change since it's covered under my warranty.

Yeah, when I saw Jet Fuel Only's video on changing the oil in the GT4, I was thinking it looked like a nice job for the dealer. Imagine pulling into Jiffy Lube

What oil did you use and do you have some way to reset the dash?

I used Liqui Moly 5W-40 Top Tech, a C40 oil. I have an iCarsoft Por v2 but I'm not resetting the data since I will have my next change done by the dealer. I've documented the details in my log book, so no worries. I buy the oil fainter from FCPEURO.COM so I'll probably ship the used oil and filter to them for free replacement. I'll send the old drain plug too, crazy policy but as long as they have it I'll use it.

That's an interesting replacement policy and something I've never heard of until now. They must be testing the oil upon return too, right?
I know someone who sends a sample of their Porsche's oil to a testing facility at every oil change. (Maybe more often than that?) It's a newer car (718 GTS).
Testing is not anything I've ever done and unnecessary in my opinion but, outside of the cost, I guess it can't hurt. He uses Blackstone Labs.

Do any of you get their oil tested on a regular basis?

No, I'm certain they don't test the oil, just recycle it. I returned my original fill in '21 when I did the first oil change and they didn't send me a report. Why would they test if the owner doesn't receive data on the oil? Virtually everything they sell is guaranteed this way, plugs, shocks, brake pads, etc. The only catch is you pay return shipping and you must have ordered the replacements from them.

Makes sense. I knew nothing about FCP Euro, so was thinking it might have been a specialty oil services outfit of some sort. Just now went to their website and I now see what they are about and what they do. The Blackstone Labs I referenced in my earlier reply is a specialty oil testing and analysis company and I think that is all they do.
Still curious if anyone here has ever had their oil tested or if any have ever considered doing so. I haven't but the thought has crossed my mind.

Yeah, I've used Blackstone a few times with my previous Porsches but not the current GTS. Every report I've received has been normal. I still have a box of test kits and will probably have the GTS tested at some point. Come to think of it, I might send off a sample from yesterday's change, the oil is still in my catch tank.
LN Engineering also offers oil testing but theirs is significantly more expensive than Blackstone. It can be a valuable service, particularly on older engines.

Thanks Bill - good to know!

I'll probably use FCP Euro when I upgrading brakes to slotted rotors (probably Sebro) with track day pads (Pagid yellow or Ferrado DS 2500). Do they give you a break (sorry, pun intended) on shipping or are we on our own?
Regardless, FCP doesn't display the 2022 718 GTS 4.0 using the Select Vehicle function, so I'm unable to determine the appropriate rotors and pads. Anyone have any part number info?
