Your first personal Porsche car revelation?

Please post your best one. It's the one that you liked the best while looking, or the one that you drove first. What made you be a Porsche fan?

The car that got me interested was an early 911. My dentist owned it. I circled the car 7 times with Novocain still in my mouth (I was in high school). I decided then to buy one that day.

As go back, it was a 1970's car. It was later when I had enough money to buy one: I bought a modified 1973.5 Porsche Carrera with a 2.7L engine (PMO's replace the original FI injection system).

It's been a great few decades since then. I would not trade my experiences for anything.

Back in 1980 or so, we went to a family reunion. One of Dad's cousins showed up with a 911 and Dad, being a life-long car guy (to this day - he's got 7 street rods in his garage at the moment. At 80, he's running out of time to drive them all... but I digress...) talked himself into a ride. I managed to finagle my way into the back seat (last time I'd ever fit in the back seat of a 911). All I remember is having my ear pressed against the rear seat to listen to the engine howl as the cousin ran it through the gears.

It took me another ~40 years to acquire my first - a used 991.2 4S earlier this year. And I have a 992 GTS on the way, whenever Porsche gets around to building it. (October, fingers crossed.) The only regret is that it took 3 decades longer than it should have.

And sorry, no pics of that old 911. Black, with chrome.

Memories are interesting things, though. I remember being shoved back into the seat of that old 911, hard. And it feels the same when I push the go button on my 4S. Objectively, a modern Honda Civic would beat that old 911 around a race track. Prior to the 911, I had a Subaru WRX and then an STI. Both of those would easily beat the old 911. But they don't compare to my childhood memory...
