Tom wrote: Sun May 18, 2025 12:56 pm All is right with the world. They had three 992.2 cars on display and they all had this license plate bumperette thing, which is very similar to the 992.1. The pictures on the internet must have been pre-production cars or maybe non-us, but either way I'm relatively confident looking at these cars that the existing mounts will work. One day this week I'll go to the dealer and lean on them to remove the plate so I can see what's behind it, but I'd be super surprised if it not very much like the dot 1 cars. :)

Thanks Tom! The GTS has the new center exhaust, but I think the base and S are the same. All the pics I could find were Euro plates which obviously didn’t overlap.

My car left Emden last week, bound for Baltimore then Wisconsin. My tentative delivery is mid June. Luckily here we don’t do temporary plates, I will transfer mine to the new car when i pick it up so no sales assistant screwing cardboard to my bumper. Happy to beta test, or just send payment if you figure it out.
Congrats! Looking forward to pics when your .2 S arrives.

They had a GTS, I just didn't get a picture of it, but it had the same mounting wart thingy as the one shown above. I would still like to see what's behind the plate, to see if they maintained that embossed plate outline and if it's the same size as before, but even if they changed it that would only require trivial changes to the design.

At the dealer being prepped. My SA sometimes is a little too laid back, but he took some initiative here

You can see the plate outline and hole locations if you zoom in.

Now that's a good sales guy! It takes a small act of Congress to stop the intake guys from drilling... or a great big yellow sign!

Nice car too. We need to see more of it when you're settled in with it...

Took the long way home, car is amazing. I’ll post more pics and thoughts in another thread, but the plate mounts work perfectly on a 992.2. Not sure the giant wart is my favorite part of the car though.

I'm biased with a white 992 and similar wheels myself, but love the spec! Congrats! It is weird that they go to all the trouble of putting that big license plate surround (wart) on the bumper, but with no way to screw a plate on other than self-tapping screws. What kind of surface is that black material the mounts are on? Some early 992's (and I believe the GT3RS) had a heavily textured black plastic that reduces adhesion. The .2 cars I saw at the show a few weeks ago had warts that were painted body color and therefore smooth as glass. How smooth it that black area on your car?

Congrats!!

It's an awesome 911 - you've gotta be having a fun day.

It's amazing how the different lighting and camera sensors render colors. It's a warm white for the inside pic and has a bluish tint for the outside photo.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing more!

I kind of like the license surround - it sets off and isolates the area that is going to be impacted by the car's dog tag ID. Might as well give the plate a decent home to reside since there is no way to get around having it on the car.

As for no way from the factory to attach the plate, well, Porsche decided to save that for Tom's ingenuity to handle as a add-on option for the Carpokes crowd. :D

It’s lightly textured plastic. I’ve done a fair amount of adhesive testing over the years including double sided tape. I think this will be fine. I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, applied good pressure, and let it sit while we did the deal. Assuming the surface energy of the plastic is ok (not polyethylene) of course.

I have seen some painted, and some black as well. Not sure if it’s part of the Sport Design option or exactly what. The GTS at the dealership was black as well, so it’s not a model thing.

I’ll keep an eye on it.
