Wow RD. Words cannot easily express what these cars mean to me in terms of pure and simple awe. And that's just from the pictures. I've gotta come back to the thread later and look at them more intently.
More great photos as I've come to expect from you. Thank you again for sharing and also for expanding and reigniting this thread/topic - it's one of my favorites.

These look similar but are very different:
The first is a very rare alloy-bodied 300Sl Gullwing I saw in England, the second is the 300SLR, two built for competition, and one sold recently for $135 million. Had a straight 8 F1 engine. The third car is a Vision concept which I was at the first F1 race at Indianapolis, shorter and nicer than the production cars.

..and a car that was never built. An original Bugatti type 64 chassis with a body built from the works drawings. Peter Mullin commissioned this as a static exhibit. Beautiful thing I saw at the Peterson:

Nice. And I agree on the Gurney Eagles as I've always considered them to be the pinnacle of what an F1 car should look like. Perfect in every visual sense - many agree. Also, a good performer to match the looks.RDMcG wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 2:05 pm I have scads of this nonsense but above are a few of my favourites:)

Since this is a Porsche Forum, I am remiss not to have beautiful Porsche cars. The problem for me is...there are none. Much more function than form. I personally think that the 904 is the prettiest car, and some of the 917s are striking, but beautiful is a stretch:)..here are a few of them:

Ahhh, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and never was that more true than with Porsche cars - street and race!

It's official, @RDMcG wins Carpokes this week. Truly great collection of cars -- thanks so much for sharing. I never thought much about the art deco cars, but a few years ago Delahaye was the featured marque at Pebble Beach, and I suddenly 'got it' seeing those cars in person on a beautiful sea-side day in Monterey. Like nothing else on wheels.

Sad news today -
Philanthropist, Collector, and Car Enthusiast Peter Mullin Has Died
"He amassed one of the finest collections of Bugattis, Delahayes, and Delages the world may ever know. You can see them at the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, Calif., where he houses many of them."
