Ha! Most likely...at least that's what I'm counting on. I see myself being confused and backwards on the courses, but willing to humiliate myself for the sake of the sport!

Yesterday was the last AX of the season. It was a "bonus" round that was just for fun; no points. As such they laid out an experimental super long course (~2 mi) that used all of Crow's Landing. It was long and fast! I still have lots to learn, though I think I improved quite a bit over the course of this season.

That's a long ax course vitaminc - I think I'd need Waze to figure that one out. Nice lap w/no Kilt Kones! Glad you had fun and thanks for posting the video. :thumbup:

Sheesh, living 60 miles from Lincoln,Ne. ( home of the SCCA Solo Nationals ) we have had some 1 mile long , fast courses, but this course beats anything I have ever seen in doing Pylon Pulverizations since 1981. What a riot and now I know why some of my SCCA buddies say Crow's Landing is a great site and has some of the National's site's grippy concrete. That old WWII cement does age and let those Bridgestones, Yokes, Falkens ,Hoosiers, and Nankangs stick like glue. Really appreciate the posting because I have heard about the site many times , but surprisingly I have never seen a run there.

Fun time and how often do you get to run there each year?

Yes, that was quite a long course! In fact, the organizers didn’t want anyone doing a course walk before the runs because at 2 mi it would just take too long. Folks with e-scooters (not me!) snuck in a few recon laps anyway. The rest of us got a single “parade” lap- low speed, no helmet- and then figured it out as we went. Fortunately we were able to get 3-4 cars on course at a time, so we still managed 8 runs on the day.

It is a great AX site! I just started running 200TW tires this year and I feel like I needed to relearn everything compared to my previous tires- so much grip!

I still miss the days of running at Alameda, mainly because the round trip drive was so much shorter for me. Such is life. Now any venue used by the PCA GGR club is at least 100 mi each way…

Anyway, it seems like we’ll be at Crows around 4-5 times per year. It gets seriously hot out there in summer, so GGR goes to Salinas or elsewhere during those months. Plenty of other clubs are still out there in the summer sweltering under the 100+ degree air temp.

Where do you guys run in Salinas, because my wife and I have been in the Monterrey/Carmel area twice this year and last ( down into SloCal ) so we are attempting to help the economy. You have answered a long lost question of mine , since so many NorCal autocrossers show up in Lincoln, Ne. for the Nationals and some comment about the fact that they run on similar concrete fairly often. Well, I have heard of Crow's Landing often but never took the time to look it up, so thanks for the short movie of the course, ha. I am going to try and get more of our Club ( Great Plains Region ) to attend the Solo Events at Lincoln that the Nebraska Region of the SCCA holds at least 8-9 times a year, as we don't have many folks skipping around the cones. We do have quite a few who do track events ( myself included ) , but Porsches and Pylons go together quite well. Looks like fun and will you guys get in one more event before the end of 2023?

@WillyDaP there is a municipal airport in Salinas, and we use one of the runways. It's quite small overall, though recently they figured out how to make the course a bit longer. The only downside is that it requires more diligence in terms of starting the runs to avoid overlap.

For example:


The Crows Landing event was #10 of the season, so that's it for 2023. We'll probably start up again in March.

Not bad , and a much better course than in many areas of the Country. I would say NorCal is in great shape for both auto crosses and road courses ------ Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Sonoma, Crow's Landing, Salinas ,etc. !
