If it helps, the bezel/SC on my 991.2 and 718 are the same, and there does not appear to be enough room around the entire perimeter to put a cover on it.

Bob,
Was the original 718 bezel chrome colored? If so, the black bezel with the yellow chrono face looks so much better! I wish I could buy a few plastic bezels in case I break it during removal but Porsche only sells the entire chrono unit for about $800. Interestingly, the OEM bezel on the GT4 is black.🤔 Is the bezel very fragile? Plastic or aluminum?

The original bezel was silver, just like the trim around the air vents, airbag trim, etc. My goal in this car is to replace as much of the silver trim with Black - I replaced as much of the silver in the Miami Blue car with Miami Blue! Regardless, making the trim Satin Black looks so much better than the silver!

The GT4 bezel is Black? The trim is plastic and you will not break it! You can chip it a little if you use too big of a screwdriver but if you are careful and have a plastic tool you can get it off since I used my fingernails.

I agree with Bob - the sport chrono bezel was the easiest one to take off on my 718 (I painted it black too), just took a few minutes. The trim around the vents was a pain on half of them and only mildly painful on the other half.

I also just completed the vent trim and it was easy as well - thanks for the tips! And when one does all 3 it looks really good!

Great! It really does look a lot better - steering wheel airbag ring is next up this weekend.

Just be slow and careful on the removal and it will be fine - pulling it out the first time is the worst but when you see how rubbery it is you will see what I mean. Use some tape around the edge where you first go in so protect the airbag, just in case you slip.

Thanks again Bob - for sure, that took way more effort to pull the ring out than I would have thought. It did break off one of the tabs which I wasn't able to pull out, but pushed farther in and it disappeared...

The new ring (thanks for that part too), doesn't have the same retention tabs and is much sturdier.

Looks great now!

If there was a good solution aside from vinyl (which I may try) or a CF sticker for the door panel chrome stripe, that'd be the last bit that bugs me.

Nice job, I knew you could do it! I did the same thing for a couple of broken tabs - just pushed them in. Did you trim ring fit securely or did you use any adhesive?

It was a secure fit, pushed in easily and much better than the original tabs.
Definitely one of the easier mods I've done.
