Also as reported by the WSJ:

"The companies said Honda would nominate a majority of the directors of the combined company and its top executive would come from Honda."

"Mibe struggled when asked what attracted him to Nissan as a partner, stressing that Honda would remain an independent brand in the merged company."

Other coverage of this suggests that Honda will gain some hybrid technology from Nissan, which got that from a Toyota deal. There's some Mitsubishi in the mix, plus whatever's left of the Renault deals. Oh what at tangled web!

From WSJ earlier today:

"Honda, Nissan End Merger Talks, Leaving Nissan to Seek Other Partners"

That didn't take long but the writing was on the wall with last week's "difficulties" announcement from the two automakers. Wise move for Honda as the combination made little to no sense. However, not sure where Nissan will go from here. Unfortunately, it appears to be getting dire for the company and its employees.

Taiwan's Foxconn. It's in the WSJ article I linked (subheading and in the body text). It was reported by several outlets back in Dec before the Honda/Nissan tie up was announced but never went further than speculation.

Honestly, I don't see how any tie up with Foxconn does much good for Nissan outside of parts that the tech giant would strip and salvage out of Nissan. But that's just my wild guess.
