What FPR do you have? Maybe take a picture of it? Maybe do a video of you testing. Idle vacuum should reduce fuel rail pressure by about 7 or 8 psi. I think you are saying that you have 40psi of fuel pressure on a running engine when the vacuum line is disconnected to the FPR. And, with the engine still running, you have 39psi of fuel pressure when you connect the vacuum line. If so, something's wrong.

40psi is a bit low for a 3 BAR regulator, but the pressure should drop a lot more than 1psi when you connect the vacuum line.

Tom ,when the engine is running the pressure is 39ps on my auto meter gauge i have a electronic fuel pressure sensor i installed on my fuel rail and this is with the vacuum plugged in the fpr

Hmmm, have you ever confirmed the electronic sensor's reading against a good old fashion fuel pressure gauge?

39psi with the vacuum line attached is within spitting distance of spec, but it should then jump up to about 46 when you pull the vacuum line off.

When i had my 2.5 fpr running and oem chips my pressure was 36psi and stable no problem an my vacuum lines are replaced along time ago with LR silicone

I purchased this 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator on 944online maybe it is defective?? should i just get the oem bosch and be done with it?

Any idea what I should look for ?

Just depends on what your chips are programmed for. If they are mapped for a 3Bar FPR, then you should stick with a 3 Bar FPR... Do you have the Bosch 3 bar regulator?
