Mine is a '90 (same 25.5mm torsion bars as '88 S/'89/968), and the stiffness is just fine with KW V3s, IMO at least as a compromised road car. A friend who was tracking his 951 never liked the KW V3 however as he always found the springs too soft.
I believe Tom upgraded to larger torsion bars on his '86?

No, I have stock 86 torsion bars here. KW claims the V3's are not made for the track, but I always assumed that was a liability cop out. To be sure, they are not super-stiff race car springs. If you want an all-out, street-be-damned, suspension, this isn't that. For me, for a street car, they are a perfect compromise as you say, with a wide range of adjustment to suit all but the most extreme street goals. I wouldn't worry about the S parts. You can still make then softer than stock on slow bumpy roads, but tighter than stock on fast sweepers.

Do you mean you can adjust them either way, or they are better than stock both ways at the same time? I do some track events but the car will never be set up for the track, so I'm happy enough to have an ideal street set up and just drive within the limits of that at the track.

They have independent rebound and compression adjustments, as well as ride height. I'd say mine are set up to be as compliant as stock over slow bumpy roads, but at the same time, tighter at speed. You could also adjust them to the limits for track days. Plenty of techno-hype I'm sure, but the KW promo material for the V3's seem to say that too....

Today I spent some time adjusting my hatch so that it actually sits properly on the car. I know everyone has said that the 944 hatch and 968 hatch are bolt on replacements for each other, but after actually dealing with a 968 hatch I believe there are slight differences between the two.

I had an issue where the rear 1/3 of the hatch actually didn’t touch the seal, and the frame at the top was so close that it actually put significant strain on the hatch frame. I ended up making two shims out of .090 aluminum and it seems to have fixed my issue.

Here is a before shot showing how far separated the rear of the hatch was from the body. Here you can kind of see the shim as well as a gasket I made out of some stuff I had in hand. I need to get the proper gaskets. Here is the end result. I’m pretty happy with it but may keep tweaking it a little. What do you guys think?
