Unless you are doing Time Trials the R7s definitely last longer and are consistent at speed for those 20-25 minute track sessions. I ran them over the A7s because so many W2W events are going to 30-40 minutes and they stay more stable for those lengths of time. They still get dang sticky and if you do an aggressive warm up lap you won't notice a ton of difference, imho.

You are absolutely correct. I was just reminiscing when I used to get almost fresh A7's (A6's before the change) from my good friend and mentor and car builder and property partner who raced them in his days in the SCCA Nationals. He had a generous Hoosier sponsorship and got lots of tires. In turn I got plenty of barely used A6's and A7's because A's are what he raced on. He had his reasons and rationale.

And then there were the times when I'd buy new sets of the A's - they were so awesome when brand new.

But yes, I'll be on R7's for the Porsche - I was just thinking out loud about and in the past. That happens... ;)

A7s = you have money or Sponsorship!
R7s = you have no Sponsors and you are trying to keep your significant other happy with all the things you keep buying to win a piece of Wood,ha!

Excellent lap at an awesome track! Clean driving from the participants in the lap you shared too. Great move avoiding #66 coming out of T5. Hard to figure what he was doing or what happened but it was sudden whatever the cause. Into and out of T5 along with the Kink often yield interesting results ...

Thanks for posting the photo of your fabulous car and the fun video. Welcome to Carpokes!
Thanks!

Yeah, got lucky going to the outside. Hard to see there, but huge pile up on the inside of T5, #66 was just trying to avoid it. Three cars out in the first lap………

Weekend got worse……..look in my rear view mirror going into Canada Corner. Fellow teammate taken out in lap 5. :(

Thanks for pointing that out Shawn, I watched the whole video the other day , and at one point I saw David behind you but I missed the contact --- I spent too much time looking ahead for you, ha!

Canada Corner - another potentially tricky and deceptive RA spot. The car that collected your friend came out of nowhere. A lot of HP to be able to pass like that but, unfortunately, lack of control or some kind of malfunction.

Speaking of Canada Corner, my friend in the 2011 SCCA runoffs was the recipient of a similar incident but his happened in front of him. The video is old and grainy but still tells the story. Start at about the 1:55 mark. The fellow in the BMW got taken out and ended up in front of Jerry. They had to cut open the car to get him out and carry him to the hospital but I believe he was mostly ok. Jerry was not injured but his car was obviously toast for that year's runoffs.

Road America is awesome but, like Rd Atlanta, if racing you best be on your toes and hope for good fortune. Even DE's bite hard.

It hadn’t rained in a couple of weeks, and it probably won’t rain again for a couple of weeks… yet the rain did come down very heavy on autocross day!

I was lucky to be in the first run group, so I just dealt with some light sprinkles.

While driving in the rain is fun and extra challenging, working the course is not so nice.

And this was my view during lunch. After which I decided to bail. Driving to and from the event on my quite worn Nankangs was “interesting”

Those that stayed eventually gave up and set up a drift course!

Looked like the rain became substantial. Drift Autocross. Or maybe DriftCross? CrossAutoDrift? Spin-O-Rama! :D

Was at Eagles Canyon Raceway (Outside Decatur, TX) over the weekend with PCA. Amazing facility, highly recommended if you have not been there!!! Enjoy!
