the whining has shifted to other teams. just look at toto last year over porpoising and horner's famous comment "fix your car".

the reality is every F1 team whines. the further you go up the rankings, the more the whining. the cutthroat pettiness is all part of the spectacle and why i love it.

Lol. We all enjoy a bit of melodrama - some soap opera shenanigans.

it really is a soap opera for adults. i often enjoy browsing the memes after the race weekend is over as much as i like watching the racing itself.

Nobody seems to care about the racing any more. Now the reporting is all about what "celebrity" stood up Martin Brundle.

F1 has always been a lot of glitz and glammer but today's version is off the charts in that respect. The money is insane and what we're seeing is the outcome of the nosebleed expenditures. Interestingly, the money and glitz-driven drama (and melodrama) has probably become the biggest drawing card for some. It's still entertainment (and can be fun in its own right) but it is of a different nature than before.

Maybe F1 needs to revisit a page or two from its early days. Or maybe step a notch or two back to racing as it was in the days of grit, dirt, sweat and fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants racing...kind of like those from NASCAR's much maligned (unfortunately) ex-WW2 B-17 pilot and race car owner, driver, engineer, engine builder, car designer and all around genius, Smokey Yunick. (Yeah, he cheated quite a bit too! )

Max Verstappen wins eighth consecutive Formula 1 victory at Belgium Grand Prix, one win shy of tying the record for most F1 wins in a row.

From Autoweek:

"It has been an absolute snoozefest at the front of the field this season as not even a five-place grid penalty for an unscheduled gearbox change could halt the Verstappen train. The reigning World Champion made it into the lead on lap 17 of 44, won by 22 seconds, and even had time to have petty arguments with Race Engineer Gianpiero Lambiase over tire usage during the final stint of the grand prix."

F1 is on Summer break until the Dutch Grand Prix at the end of August.
