What a great trip and a perfect way to celebrate the 250th year Anniversary.

PS - I also will toss out a vote for the Ferodo 3.12 as they have been on my Cayman GTS since she reached 2000 miles and am super impressed by the pad. It seldom even squeaks which we all know is common with track pads.

And by signing up for two, back-to-back, two-day driving courses at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham. Variable weather with 91 degrees and snow, both within 18 hours in Charlottesville! The Cayman is a wonderful road companion!
Fantastic trip!!! It's so cool that you could and would do that! Great itinerary motivation too. Impressive journey.

Speaking of impressed, isn't Barber marvelous! Wow. It's the Augusta of motorsports road courses - fantastic facility that's perfectly designed and awesomely landscaped. It's a one of a kind facility with an incredible museum holding the world's largest motorcycle collection as well as some impressive race cars to boot. Barber MSP is a wonderful driving road course too. All of it was from the vision of George Barber who, unfortunately, passed away last month.

Congrats again on your Cayman expedition!

I completed another set of RE71-RS tires this weekend. New set ordered. Will try the RZs as soon as they release more sizes.

I tried Harry's lap timer on Sunday as it integrates into carplay. I still need more time with it before I have a conclusion. It was nice to see my time on the center display but was not sure how to show plus minus times in each sector so I can get real time feed back if that alternative line was better or not.

Congrats on using up every bit of rubber my friend. I have a new set of RSs mounted and though I have friends who are giving me solid reviews on the RZ it will be nice to hear from my fellow GTS RennRatte from the desert on his impression.

Barber was pretty awesome. Most driving was done with the 2025 Carrera S but there was also pedal-to-the-metal seat time in 2025 Cayman GTS, Boxster GTS, Panamera GTS and Turbo S. Learned a lot ... including that I have no business being on that track with the young bucks!

A friend of mine did a Porsche driver training at barber in December and said he learned a lot. I am jealous I did not go.

Are the 3.12s less dusty than the stock pads?

I think so - by a huge margin, actually. However, they must be properly bedded in, preferably on new race-level rotors such as those from AP Racing or Girodisc. (For new rotors, I prefer new pads to be bedded in by my supplier - Essex/AP Racing, using the Ferodo DS3.12 material.)

I don't have direct experience but I'd bet that the Ferodo pads we're discussing would chew up a set of OEM rotors in no time. The Ferodo DS3.12 are very aggressive with incredible stopping characteristics if paired with proper rotors.

Be prepared for them to squeal for the last 10-20 feet of a street driving stop - mine do anyway. The squeal is often absent fresh off the track if I've been able to burnish them a bit, but street use stopping will wear off much of the pad material resulting in a bit of squeal in slow, traffic laden stop and go conditions. (They don't squeal at all on track and they don't utter a peep under full, heavy braking.)

This is an older but extremely helpful video from Essex regarding burnishing.

Actually the DS3.12s have been quite reasonable on the stock rotors , which is a pleasant surprise to me as I am hard on rotors and I was dismayed to see Porsche went for the blingy drilled rotors for the poseur crowd -- give me a solid set of grooved rotors for heat dissipation and less cracking.

Love the 3.12s as much as blueline does, but wanted to toss out my experience with the stock rotors. When they finally go to rotor heaven I will likely pop for a set of Girodiscs since they make a slightly larger set (350mm instead of the stock 330 mm on a GTS ) that works with the stock calipers. I will add I am not concerned with dust like many, as stopping power is my main focus and these pads are beasts on the track!
