Wouldn't have to undo much the car was running on the standalone before I pulled the motor out, would just be a case of putting it back in, changing the tune/exhaust and removing some of the extra turbo cooling parts. The harness would have a couple of redundant plugs but two models are amazingly modular.

A couple things to add here. A 4" aluminum tube fits nicely in the factory inner fender opening. The end of the tube simply needs a bit of shrinking. The bracket for the ignition amplifier is in conflict with a 4" tube but the top ear of the bracket can be folded down to provide clearance.

I dropped into see my fabricator today, he's confident he'll get 3.5" through without losing the whole headlight bracket. He has more issues with the 2.5" intercooler piping.

Not great photos but he made it happen with no cutting of the headlight bracket. 3.5" all the way to the filter behind the fog light. Still need to work out where the horns will go but thats not the end of the world.

Looking good!

You might have just traded "cooler" air for a restriction. The bends and length will certainly add to slower moving air.

Theoretically yes but I'd be surprised if it would make in practice a measurable difference.

Hopefully the larger tubing and filter combo will overcome any extra static pressure/restriction compared to the tiny pencil thin filter most people put behind the headlight.

I would think the 3.5" diameter will prevent any real restriction -- at least at any likely power level. Nice welds too! :)
