Lansdale area, Montgomery county. I went to school at Millersville back in the day though. Bought my old VW Jetta from York VW back in about '99.

Hey, you're not too far away, I read your earlier post and it looks like you're hoping to get out to 944fest, it's a great time and I hope I get to meet you there. Also, an easy way to check your clutch and at least make sure the rubber center is not broken. on the transaxle there is a cover that you can remove to get to the torque tube/transaxle coupler. If you pull that cover off and reach your hand up, grab the drive shaft and can twist if it twists your clutch is very much so on its last legs and you WILL get stranded, ask me how I know.

Ok, first 10+ mile drive in the books. Starts and idles fine. Around 4k rpm it stops pulling and feels like it loses some power. Timing belt off a tooth? I'll have to check that. Oil leak behind the timing belt cover, may be doing that over again. I remember a seal not going in smooth.

Front suspension is worn. As I get it running better I'll start looking into front suspension rebuild. Could be a summer project.

As I look back on this project I need to thank my friend Bruce for getting me going on it after I had it sitting in my garage. He bought me 2 front hood struts to keep the hood up, then got me to do a first fix, and then continued to help me chip away at jobs over time.
