That said, if like me ,your main focus is autocrossing or track time, the PDK is remarkable and good to shave off a half a second to 60 and through a quarter mile , which adds up quickly on a road course, especially.

Bill say it ain't true, at 72 in less than a month my Cayman and other toys are what keep me young ( well in my mind, ha ), hang on to your Red Porsche, and take a drive today --- I bet you will feel 21 again by the time you get back home.
Thanks. It as all of my past Porsches will be used as a fun weekend drive. A nice day, top down, some nice back roads. As good as the PDK is I’m still a manual guy as I feel it is more engaging. I’ve just never owned a Boxster and wanted to know how some owners felt about their GTS.

You will find it will be like your Caymans of the past, just faster and it will mess your hair up more, ha! If I was not doing Time Trials I would opt for the manual, and considering what you want the car for, I concur it is the best choice for you.

I was 72 when I got my 718, loved it from the start, and still do. But my knee trouble isn't going away, it is becoming such a chore to get out (getting is helped by gravity) that I find myself driving my Cayenne where I would have before automatically chosen the Cayman. I am facing reality, and as much as I hate to, I think now is the right time to sell as values are holding pretty high. I realize it might go up more once they are NLA but I'm not going to have it sit in my garage for nearly a year for that to happen.
I've been looking at BMW M240i models, new and used. But a friend has a Mercedes AMG C43 that he loves and I've found one just like I would have ordered it(except for the auto tranny) so I may get one of those. Getting old sucks, but I've had a great run of sports cars in my lifetime going all the way back to my 1970 240Z. No regrets, can't stop the aging process and I'll still be a Porsche owner. BTW, I have a loaner Macan S while my Cayenne is in the shop for a recall, nice little German hot rod. They told me to drive it like I stole it, and I'm certainly doing that. 115 in 4th gear and I love watching the tach move to redline and fall back only to advance again and again to redline. I could live with a Macan if I still had the Cayenne to carry the stuff that won't fit in a Macan. But I only have so much garage space.

I had a C43 AMG before I purchased my old 911 coupe.

I really enjoyed that car - fast and AWD with extremely high quality fit and finish.

You wont be disappointed if you go that route.

Bill in Bama wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 5:17 am Having owned a 987 Cayman S, a 981 CGTS, and now my 718 GTS 4.0, it is the natural evolution of the mid-engine Porsche hard top. Torque is king in city driving(and accelerating out of corners on track) and the difference is very noticeable. I love mine but unfortunately it looks like it will soon leave me due to advanced age(driver), something I can't prevent. You won't be sorry, it's a phenomenal car.
2 things steered me to PDK over manual.....it is quicker and I wont be shelling out $$$ for a clutch replacement.

Well, made the trade. Brought her home just in time before the snow flies and salt hits the roads.
Had a nice 70 mile ride home with a few twistys. Thanks to all who contributed to my posted question about switching over from my 911.

Wonderful looking GTS!! Congrats!

I'm looking forward to your evaluations and thoughts as you compare the 718 to your now traded '13 911. Meanwhile, enjoy the new beauty even if that means mostly gazing at it while it's cocooned for the winter months. Even tough New England winters are bound to offer a few days here and there when it's sunny and the roads are clear of snow and salt. You'll both appreciate a bit of exercise.

Nice interior! The Carmine Red (I think?) bits inside are classy and good looking - stitching, center tach face, seat belts, GTS embroidered headrests. Alcantara and leather seats look great too!

It looks like it was a nice day when you took the pic so maybe you'll get some more of those for a few more drives before winter weather sets in.
