Gripe about dealer service

I picked up my GTS today after an oil service and warranty repair of the clock spring,. Since the PIWIS was used to program the new one all my settings and preferences were erased from the PCM. Happens every time. I know this is a petty complaint but it just irks me that there isn't some way to preserve all customer settings. The tech even ran my sest all the way back so I even had to stop and adjust it( I have 2 ways).

My only gripe about Porsche dealer service is the price. I was quoted $499 for an oil change on my 2019 2.5 718.

I scheduled an oil change with a Bosch-certified independent shop for $200.

I know all dealers charge more, but Porsche prices are so high, that it implies Porsche thinks we are greater fools.

If you haven't seen this thread/video on changing the oil, it's worth a watch. On my 992, you can change the oil and filter without touching anything but the drain plug and filter. On the 718, or at least some of them, there is some actual work to do. I don't know if it's $500 worth of work, but it's got to take a extra hour to deal with all the covers? Not rocket science, but more opportunities to screw something up and leave fasteners off, etc. The dealer also has the computer to actually read the oil level --until some litigation fixes that anyway ;) --whereas that's more of a process when relying on the dash....

If it does take an hour to remove all of the 718 panels, my indy shop is cheating itself.

I just booked my second oil change at $200 before sales tax for late July.

The shop has worked on my Audi S5 for years and they are first rate. More anal than any dealer I've experienced.

But you do never know, when I began changing oil on my Alfa Stelvio SUV I was shocked at how many underbelly pan screws were missing.
