Yes of course.. but I keep hesitating on the tape, hoping for something better. Perhaps @Tom can 3D Print File something to slip on the end
The thickness would depend on how bent your tab is.

You could keep adding tape until the roof stops in the correct position, then put the sunroof on a flat surface and measure the tab top surface height, remove the tape, and bend the tab to the the same height.

Mine, unchanged since new, stops with a two inch opening from roof top to bottom of the sunroof.

Yes if I keep the switch pressed, it reaches its max height (determined by a switch in the trunk)

Getting tired of opening with two hands while driving 🤣

Clark's has a note that the tab can get bent while the roof is removed, and you can bend it back. I'd consider just adding a few layers of tape to achieve the same effect.

Hmmm... Post some pics showing what part we're talking about. If tape would fix it, I'm thinking any shim cover would need to be very thin?

The tab in the front middle of the sunroof. I'm not sure how many layers of tape it would take (it would depend on how far it was bent down.) A rough estimate is that it is about 30 to 1 for layer thickness to increase in roof height at the back. So to have the roof stop 1 inch higher, it would take 1/30 of an inch thick of tape. Once measured with tape, tapping it with a hammer (as needed) to move it up to the correct position would correct the problem. Dan has more leeway given he has the newer mechanism, which uses the this switch only for the sunroof removed signal.

So I gave up looking for a direct replacement. Google AI said Omron SS-5GL13 was a good replacement. I thought I would try and ordered 4 of them from amazon for 9 dollars. I expected some modification as the body was longer than the original switch. The other issue is the terminals exit out the back of the switch and not the side like the original. I was hoping I had enough clearance to the roof but I did not.

To get the switch to fit I cut back some of the housing, a utility knife worked well for this. Then I opened up the switch and modified it to make the wires exit out the side. Once I got everything adjusted I put a drop of superglue to hold the switch in place and RTV over the top of the exposed connections.

It seems to be working well but I think if I ever had to do this again on a different car I would give the Berguss F1NST8A1 a try but it looks like it will require some modification to the housing/switch also.
