Putting aside whether they (or anyone else) can make a gall-free piston for Alusil these days, I don't think there is much of a market for standard size pistons unfortunately. They list .5mm overs, but STD say sold out. Love the block though. Maybe custom order from Mahle?

It seems that unless you get something custom you may need to get that brand new block enlarged for the 1st oversize. As i recall @four0four who is also a WA resident, had his done down in Oregon. It sure does look pretty though.

True, but unfortunately I learned here that they've since closed up shopLatitude48 wrote: Mon Jun 29, 2026 7:27 pm It seems that unless you get something custom you may need to get that brand new block enlarged for the 1st oversize. No I was confused, just checked my build sheet from mahle and the bores were 4.095", I think I mixed up the tolerance groups with oversized.
The tolerance group is stamped on the block face on each cylinder near the oil passages, you can see it in the pictures above.
Looks like yours is 1 as well so 100.0 pistons would be slightly small

I will check the block for bore size
Thanks for the heads up.
The block belongs to Soloracer
I’m putting it together for him
I’m thinking it might be wise to put Porsche pistons in it. Can’t go wrong with that even though more expensive.
Probably Molnar rods
The block was the last one in Canada sitting in Toronto
