An excellent article I just ran across in NASA Speed News. It explains aspects of the processes involved and the whys, one of them that clarified (to me) why Porsche and other auto manufacturers as well many critical applications (racing, aerospace, manufacturing, etc.) stipulate one-use-only for many fasteners.
