Hey everyone, I’m replacing the head gasket on my 2.5l and I have a couple question about the rebuild. The first is wondering if it’s okay for me to reuse hardware when putting everything back together? I’m also curious if I need to coat my cylinder walls in a thin film of oil/assembly lube when putting the head back on to prevent scoring? Thanks in advance, and any additional advice would be greatly appreciated as this is my first time pulling the head off an engine

Yes, you can re-use just about all the fasteners if they are in good shape. The factory recommends new nuts and washers for the head studs though. Don't put assembly lube on the cylinders. A light coat of regular motor oil is all you need -- nothing drippy, just oily to the touch. I do use assembly lab on the lifters, including the sides of the lifter to help keep them in place when reinstalling the cam tower. Print one of our timing belt tensioning tools before you need it. :)
