Did someone get rid of the factory shift knob and replace it with a godawful red anodized aluminum on your 944? Someone did on mine...

This knob:
  • Has a replaceable pattern cap
  • Has bushings that fit the factory shift lever
  • Has a boot clamp at the bottom to finish the factory leatherette shift boot, holes for 2mm socket head screws
  • Feels good!
I have an Only944 Shift linkage and short shifter on my car, so vibration from the transmission is HIGH! I originally printed the bushings in TPU for AMS, but they were still much, much to rigid and conveyed too much rattle into the cabin. I printed the final (for now...) version in 85A TPU and it's dead silent.

I printed in Matte PLA with fuzzy skin. The fuzzy skin gives it a perfect texture, hides all the layer lines, and gives it a good handfeel. It's also weighty enough to help dampen vibrations

The boot clamp clamps the factory boot on to the shift lever right below where the knob body ends. Finishes it off nicely.

I've played around with different patterns for the cap. This one has an arrow for reverse to avoid an island in the R. My idea is to revise this in the future to be backlit when the dash lights are on, and avoiding islands will help there. I'm sure there's a good font out there, so if you know of one let me know! Otherwise I'm going to slice and dice one as needed...

Anyone happen to have pictures of this installed in their car? Curious about how the exterior leather boot is attached/looks! Thanks. :)
