@jlheiman wrote in the new member intro thread and said he was looking for a servo for his 1987 911 Targa. I am starting a new thread so the question and answers don't get buried in that thread as new members join and post there. I had an '85 911 at one point, and have an '86 944 now, and have more experience than I'd like hunting for parts of this era. :shifty:

I looked up the part number on Porsche's online parts catalog available here:

https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessories ... logue/#911

For the '87, it shows part number 911.617.123.02 for that servo. (See diagram below.)

That part shows as discontinued when you plug it into Sunset's (or any dealer's) online parts ordering page. So, unless you get lucky finding new old stock somewhere, you'll need to get a used one. The good news is they are fairly plentiful on eBay and Porsche-specific wreckers such as dcauto. Here are some examples of used ones:

https://www.dcauto.com/parts/89923?illu ... &year=1987

https://www.ebay.com/itm/274994371249

If you search using the part number, you'll find others as well. There is a place in France that tends to have more NOS parts than most, Rose Passion. They list this part as new, though I would contact them to make sure they really have it before ordering. No surprise, the list price is about $1200, compared to a fraction of that for a used one...

I have one that came from a 86 Carrera. It's not tested, but also come with the control module both parts for $100 plus shipping.

It's also listed on this page together with other parts I have available.
