Looks pretty big. What kind of pressure drop are guy expecting to have to compensate for?

The fabricator said around 2 psi. I don't think I will need to run more than 23 psi to get the car flying and my turbo can handle 30 psi. I will check by how much I need to increase WG duty %.

While looking for ways to get the new intercooler in I reinstalled temporarily the SFR stage 2 unit so that I could keep driving the car without the frustrating bottleneck of the stock IC, which allowed the car to go fast without being really enjoyable because of poor response and just poor flow. Without much surprise it is a big improvement, still not amazing in the way it cools down charge air but the engine feels even more like a high-revving NA unit, only just without the low end grunt. Believe it or not but I got the opportunity to drive a Ferrari 550 the other day and was surprised how the power display and wide powerband compared on full load. Very fast and smooth, without the relatively instant urge of the 8V engine but with a far taller "reach" (if that makes sense), with a constant, deep push in the back starting at 4000 rpm that feels like it will never end as the engine wants to rev way beyond 7000 rpm. This 16V engine is proving at every new step more different than the 8V it replaced, mostly all for the better - only downside perhaps is the deceptive response below 3000 rpm, but I try to see as a positive since the 8V engine was always too fast when I didn't want it to, and frustratingly restricted up top when I pushed it.

Which one is stage 2? Modified end tanks, or the bigger one that fits in where the stock one went? I have the latter, and would say it's the best overall compromise of the SFR intercoolers (having tried the others). If I ever build the new motor, I'm cutting the cross bar and integrating a big intercooler/cross brace into that area. Of course, now that these are apparently collector cars worth $50-$100k, maybe I should spend my time making sure all my hose clamps are from the correct original manufacturer instead....

I'm jealous re your power delivery. On my 8v, I get a massive shove in the back when the boost spools up, and then it starts to run out of steam toward redline. It makes the car fun and seem more powerful than it is. The 992TTS is so different in that regard. Porsche tries to make the power delivery linear feeling, so the initial grunt is less impressive, but it pull harder and harder as it approaches redline like you are being sucked into the horizon.

The Stage 2 is the brick that goes behind the bumper. To me it's more a temporary heat sink than anything else but at least it flows OK. So you have the Stage 1.5 apparently now?

I'm sure the recent turbo engines shine everywhere, but then they cost a bit more!

Just looked at his site and yes, the one on my car now is his stage 1.5. I have his FMIC stage 2, but didn't how it dangled down in front of the condenser and radiator. I made my own mounts for it since he supplied L brackets and sheet metal screws, but all the couplers and the location and overall Fast N' Furious vibe just didn't do it for me. You probably need more air, but on my car I don't notice any seat of the pants difference.

Ah ok. In my mind you were still running the stock IC, which even with my 8V engine I found to be inferior to the SFR St2. I bet your engine runs way better with the St 1.5 than with the stock IC, and perhaps better than the St2, as my measurements showed the stock IC and the St2 had more or less the same cross sectional area.

Yesterday's progress. How many hp an injector duty cycle of 70% with 1200cc injectors should give?
The car flies. It was a good move to fit big blacks last year.

I need to upgrade my brakes.... After driving the 992TT, the stock '86 brakes feel like tractor brakes, especially after accelerating hard.

I'd take it with a grain of salt, but this calculator says 533hp (pump gas, 3 bar fuel fuel pressure, turbo 4 cylinder).

https://www.injectorrx.com/fuel-injecto ... alculator/

I'd be more inclined to compare 60-100mph times. Yours looks to be a little over 4 seconds, if the time bar is accurate. Do you have any kind of knock control/monitor? Is that about the boost level you normally run?

Well, it's all work in progress. I didn't have enough time to increase boost or fine tune it. I drive with headphones on, out of a J&S Safeguard. It helps a lot. No knock so far.
