Good to hear you may have found the issue.
As for wastegate location it seems the answer is in your own question as it makes sense to me that the closer to the head, the hotter the exhaust gas. Isn't there enough room around the stock wastegate location to somewhat locate both? I can't quite tell from the pictures but you use a 944T clutch bellhousing rather than the 968's bulky unit?
968 Turbo boost problems whilst mapping

If you look at pages 1-3 on the thread you can see pictures of set up I’ll try to get an updated down load from ecu but I live in Mallorca and the car is in the UK so will need a little timeealoken wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 11:04 am Can you show pictures of your setup and how your map / log?
I think your exhaust housing is one of your problems, 1.05 bleeds alot.Rickuk1 wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 11:33 pmealoken wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 11:04 am Can you show pictures of your setup and how your map / log?If you look at pages 1-3 on the thread you can see pictures of set up I’ll try to get an updated down load from ecu but I live in Mallorca and the car is in the UK so will need a little timeealoken wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 11:04 am Can you show pictures of your setup and how your map / log?
How are your ignition map and boost map?
Closed or open loop?
So latest update the boost leak appears to be fixed we have done a couple of street pulls I’ll show wider below any thoughts from the limited data on the video before we get back on the dyno

In that screenshot, which appears to be a snapshot in time during a pull, AFRs seem ok, looks around low 12's (lambda 0.83), boost approx 31psi (217 kpa), but I am not sure what you are asking for feedback on with those screenshots.
What might be concerning is that Im also seeing your target lambda at 1.01 which is about stoic (14.7 AFR), and your EGO correction appears to be trying to pull fuel (88% enrichment), which tells me your target lambda/afr table may not be configured right and that is why EGO is trying to pull fuel in order to hit that 1.01 lambda target. That would be way too lean for running boost and should be corrected since EGO correction will be trying to constantly lean your mixture. 14.7/stoic is ok at partial throttle/cruising (ie cruising at highways speeds) but obviously under load you want more fuel or bad things happen. You may want to look at your target lambda/AFR table and make sure the cells are all set to the correct target based on load/rpm - but maybe I am not reading your screenshot correctly.
I am more familiar with Megasquirt/MegaLogViewer so I am not familar with the VEMS logger interface and how to fully interpret what you shared in the screenshots.
Sharing your target AFR/lambda, VE and Ignition timing tables in a screenshot would be helpful and could try to review those, if desired.
