Has anyone here done track time (not just parade laps) in your Cayenne? I've done a couple of HPDE days at Road America in a Cayman, and I'm contemplating doing it this year in my Cayenne S e-hybrid.

I don't own a Cayenne but I was at a Porsche autocross event and a guy had his TT there . After watching some cars run he decided to run his pepper 🌶 turbo . I heard some guys snickering but as the guy pulled to the line he put it in sport mode and the car lowered . It got quiet pretty quickly . He launched the beast and was a good driver . He was in the top 5 all day . It was fun to watch him thrash it around the tight course . Had a lovely sound also .

I've been at a couple of track days at Sebring where someone had a Jeep SRT and was impressive. So, yea, go for it.

Not in my Cayenne, but ran Spa and the Nürburgring in my Panamera ST Turbo. Nothing like my GT cars, but surprisingly good for its size.......

I’ve seen a Cayenne surprise people on track. There was a guy at an autocross who had one, and it ended up in the top 5.

Update on this is that our PCA club has decided no EVs or hybrids will be allowed to run at HPDE at Road America because of the fire risk.

I wonder how much of that is driven by data and reason, and how much by emotion? That's not a rhetorical question, I really don't know. I've read EV's are much less likely to catch fire than ICE cars, statistically. On the other hand, once they catch fire, they are likely to burn themselves out before anyone can put them out, so maybe that's the issue?

They've had one fire in the last 3 years. Road America has said they don't have the equipment to handle it, so they'd just let it burn, resulting in a liability issue for the potential damage that could result. I did not receive an answer to the question of whether the new 911 GTS will be treated as a "hybrid" and therefore excluded. My guess is that they haven't realized they'll eventually have to decide on what size Li-ion battery pack constitutes sufficient fire risk to be banned. Maybe they'll get the necessary fire management tech before facing that decision.

I might add that it wasn't clear whether the "one fire in the last 3 years" was EV or ICE. I'm friends with a person whose Cup Car burned at the Milwaukee PCA HPDE a few years ago (fuel system leak), and that could be their one fire.
