I have not yet taken delivery of my new Cayenne S e-Hybrid, but I did get a chance for a quick initial drive and was very happy with it. It's the first of the new e-hybrids that the dealer has seen and he was eager to see how the EV range seemed to perform. When we started out (in e-mode at 100% battery) it showed 49 miles of range. After a few miles of only EV driving it showed ... 49 miles of range. I switched to hybrid mode for a bit, then sport mode to get on the highway. I flipped it back to e-mode as we approached the dealership, at a total of about 9 miles, and it showed 46 miles of range. More actual experience to come.

Meanwhile, Porsche's spec document says the WLTP in-town range is 79-90km, or 49-56 miles. The EPA, on the other hand, gives it a measly 27 miles of range. I'm wondering if the EPA hasn't produced a result for the new model and so they just put on the Monroney the result for prior models. The EPA also gives a MPG-e of 52, compared to a range of 139-169 from WLTP.

The MPG-e test is irrelevant to me. I'm either going to be noodling around town in electric mode, having fun on alphabet roads in Sport Plus, or cruising down the highway in hybrid mode. I plan to use home charging to keep the battery in the 20-80% range.
