If you preordered the dash cam prewiring you get a 12 v connector in the overhead console.
I wrote a hack to connect to use this connection by purchasing a Porsche dash cam harness and cutting off the connector and making my own harness for a radar detector and aftermarket dash cam.
An owner on RL found the male connector part number which is a less expensive option for mating to the prewire connector so I will share the part #

I'm planing on installing Garmin's Dash Cam Mini 2 as all I'm looking for is something to hopefully show as proof if an incident with an idiot driver. (At least what's in front will be covered.) The Mini 2's are small and inconspicuous but offer excellent resolution and a wide field of view.audi4t wrote: Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:18 am If you preordered the dash cam prewiring you get a 12 v connector in the overhead console.

The Mini's are USB and I'm hoping that the Dongar Tech adapter that "Al B" posted will work. What I see on their website looks good. ("Al B" post here: https://www.carpokes.com/search.php?aut ... 4&sr=posts)

Depends which car you plan on using the Dongar harness.
It is not a direct plug and play for the 992.
It is for a 991 and 718.
The Dongar harness advertised on Amazon, for Porsche, utilizes pin 3 for ground - 992's utilize pin 2 for ground.
The Dongar uses pin 1 for switched power.
In other words the harness uses the two outside pins for a 991 or a 718 - the 992 uses one outside pin and the middle pin.
You can easily modify the harness so that the pins connect to the correct wire in your Porsche but just be aware.
The wiring in your 992 is as follows:
The white wire in the blue connector is switched power and the clear wire (middle - pin 2) is ground.
I believe the Dongar incorporates a 12v to 5v converter which supplies 5v to a usb connector

Absolutely agree!wem wrote: Sat Apr 01, 2023 12:54 pm I have the Garmin mini dashcam 2 too. In addition to the positives you mentioned, I also like that it doesn’t record your speed.

And that is exactly why I bought the Garmin Dash Cam Mini, in fact three of them. One for my daily driver and another two (front & rear) for my 991. I like the fact that the camera is ultra small and does everything I want as I have no need for a built-in GPS or parking lot sensor and spare back-up battery.
As for the connection to the mirror, I looked at the Dongar adapter but made my own which is identical for $0.99 and a bit of my time.
