I did everything on the machine at work.
It’s glass media.
Masked the hell out of everything with heavy tape and plastic cap plugs we have from new Deutsch connectors and other fittings. We have bins full of every size and type you could think of.
1. Then washed with high volume hot water and soapy hot water in the giant sink.

2. Compressed air

3. Alcohol in spray bottle

4. Compressed air

5. LPS contact cleaner….cleaned the bearings on 3 throttle bodies after blasting with that.

Throttle bodies were fully masked and capped with tape, plastic caps and foam ear plugs.

Ear plugs work great on threaded holes and small openings. Used a ton when we paint things at work.

I will have to add throttle body pics.

The LPS contact cleaner surprised me how well it blasted out oil/grease crud from the throttle needle bearings even after flushing with the 100% Isopropyl Alcohol.

6. Compressed air again

I am going to spray the internal parts with Solid Film lube. A brand we use at work. Fantastic stuff and very slippery.
I may send some Aluminum parts out with my pistons to get DiamonDyze coated. Hupe is located in Canada so I don’t have to ship across the border. He is one of the founders of DiamonDize. The US side is Techline Coatings.

Hmm, this is the first I've heard of DaimondDyze. Looks possibly more like a "bling" thing so will have to do some research but do you know how it holds up in highly loaded applications (especially shock loaded)?

I've typically used DLC to extend the life of gearsets in motorsport applications with pretty good success but other alternatives are always good to have in the back pocket...

Through my work I have excellent access to technical /engineering information regarding coatings

The process appears to be legit. Talked it over with a bunch of other engineers I work with.

We do a ton of coatings and metal treatments as per WS33111. I have gained a pretty good understanding on the topic through the work we do.

The Solid film lube and Oleophilic coatings I can do myself at work. We have a paint booth and big industrial easy bake oven.

Here is a pic of the Sandstrom solid film lubes I have used/sprayed at work.

Not sure if you have seen this post on one of the Facebook groups. Have not seen any catastrophe follow up posts.

I had stumbled across DiamondDyze researching at work a number of years ago then realized the post was the same product.

Pump gears would get the solid film lube.
Oil passages Oleophilic coating.
Thinking I will DiamondDyze the turbo mounts and oil pump housings. Has good corrosion properties and slippery. I just don’t want a stupid color. Silver or Grey maybe black would be the only external color I could live with.
The Polyphen Thermal Dispersant Coating is probably what I would use for the turbo mount and oil pump case but would need to find out if it can be sprayed over the anodized parts. We spray primer and paint over Alodined aluminum parts at work so I would imagine it will work but will confirm.
I would use the TLTD in the oil passages and oil pan.

Sorry I am refreshing my memory a bit here.

You won’t/can’t find a copy as it’s a controlled document which can’t be shared….your not missing out on anything at all regarding cars.


My statement was more or less implying to follow manufacturer instructions. Also that coatings aren’t snake oil provided it’s from a reputable manufacturer. Eg Calico coatings.

Products exist in present day that didn’t before that can aid with various aspects. Eg thermal coatings or non stick etc of which I like to try/experiment.

Any product manufacturer documentation is going to give you all the proper details for application.
Whatever you choose the necessary details will be there.

Hope that clarifies my earlier post.
