After hitting a pothole, the PCM is doing the semi-famous rebooting trick. I really don’t want to buy a new unit…I have read that the hard drive can be replaced, ghosted and updated…anything definitive? Anybody had it done? Success? Any dealerships willing to try?

assuming this is the same pcm 3.1 in my mk1 macan, yes, you can clone the hard drive and install it with a new pcm unit, assuming your current hard drive is not toast. apparently the dealer charges a small fortune to reprogram a new pcm and without that cloned drive or the programming it will not work.

santirx has a walkthrough on this:

related, he's also experimenting with a full pcm swap to an android unit. if my pcm were to die this is the route i would probably go:

there are similar units for the panamera.
