Porsche with their 963 GTP have made improvements to the problems they had at the 24 hours of Daytona. With the battery issue, they found they had a vibration issue and have taken to aliviate the vibrations from engine harmonics and also a better mounting of the battery system. Secondly with the transmission issue, Porsche and xtrac, the transmission manufacturer, the have replicated the problem and have come up with solution. Penske and Porsche are looking for better results from this race. We will have to watch and see the results this Saturday.
I will be there and trying to keep you informed. Have a great day!

They actually had a vintage group in this weekend that I did twice. One was HSR and one SVRA. We got very little track time.

But we got the same credentials as the pro-drivers so we could wander around the inside pits (fire suits required) during the race. You could hear the pit radio's and driver communication. It was awesome.

Fair Warning: We never went to Green Park after dark. We would also lock up everything of value before sleeping at night (we slept in my car trailer). The Green Park people would come in at 4:00 am and steal your beer, chairs,---

Not that I noticed but some girls were topless after dark. It is a wild party in the infield. It's spring break in FL.

I'll DVR this weekend.

After absorbing the sun at Sebring and a little sunburn I was not the only one that got burned.
k. Bachler during qualifying spun the car into the was of turn 1 and damaged the Porsche. Fortunately it makes for them a bigger job to do well as they were delegated to the back of the field in 7th place.
It was the Matt and Mathieu qualifying team. Mathieu qualified the #6 Porsche 963 in P4 while Matt Campbell qualified the Porsche 963 into a crash in turn 1 and will start in 7th..
In GTD the #16 Wright Motorsports with J. Heylen qualified the Porsche 911 GT3 R "(993) into 4th place followed by Kellymoss wiht Riley #91 in 14th, Weight Motorsports #77 and AO Racing Porsche #80 in 17th place.
Tommorrow weather is to be cloudy with a possible Thunderstorm. Will have to wait and see!

Yes, the 12 hours of Sebring this year was a 'Crash Fest' starting with qualifying and Pfaff and Penske. Then on the start before turn 1 the first crash and amazingly not a major event was avoided by the drivers avoiding the prototype accident before turn 1.
The Pfaff team put in 11 hours of repair work to repair the Porsche 911 GT3 R for the drivers to perform their job with the team to put them at the forefront of the GTD class to win the 12 hours of Sebring. Patrick Pilet performed his ability to save fuel and running the last 41 laps with yellow flags and a elapsed time of 1 hour and 52 minutes to lead the last 19 laps without fueling.
That gave Pfaff its 12th win, second Sebring win and first win for the Porsche 992 GT3R
In the last 20 minutes there was a multi-car crash between the Posche 963 #6 with Mathieu Jaminet and the #10 Wayne Taylor Acura at Turn 3 followed by the #7 Porsche going over the #6 Porsche all three fighting for the win.
The Penske Porsche #6 963 GTP was awarded the 3rd place podium, even though on the wrecker and not taking the checkered flag. It was awarded because of the elapsed time on the track was higher than the 4th place car.
It was a crash feast with 12 yellow flags determined to be the many tight corners creating a back up of cars and drivers competing for position made for an interesting event.
We will see what the next event at the Long Beach city road circuit.

Carnage near the end of the 12-hour IMSA race - I imagine there are some upset GTP teams (and others).

Out of the eight top class GTP cars entered this year, only two were running at the end and actually finished the race.

The two Porsche 963 GTP cars had bounced back from a disappointing showing at Daytona and were both in it, poised to challenge for podiums until they both got taken out in that unfortunate melee. Sebring was rough this year and I'm not referring track's notorious surface.

Five different classes of cars (GTP, LMP2, LMP3, GTDPRO, GTD) in a race will make for interesting on-track action and outcomes. Out of the 53 total cars in the five classes that started the race, 13 were not running at the finish.
