Thanks for posting that and for the schedule too!

I have a close friend who raced with Hurley and many others in the early 70s. Peter Gregg was part of those days of course and, as I've been told, many looked up to him.

Here's an old newspaper photo of Denny (spinning out!) and Hurley passing him at Daytona in 1971. I believe it was Denny's first Daytona 24.

The second pic is at the green flag race start of the 1972 Daytona with Denny on pole. Hurley is there somewhere. Denny set a Daytona qualifying record that year in the #22 Greenwood Corvette and ended up 4th overall.

I say all of this because of Denny and Hurley's race connections and palling around back then. Denny later raced Porsches, mostly HSR in later years. This was all before I knew him so these are stories as he's related them to me.

Thanks for the reply and your info.
Will talk to Hurley about that and if he remembers that!
Start watching the Rolex and Porsche.

That would be fantastic!!! Please share the pics too if desired and if there's a comment from Hurley let me know and I'll contact Denny. (Denny lives in CO now.)

Today's Daytona 24 is looking to be another great one! What an event and what a race! Record attendance too this year I think.

I raced with (and well behind) Hurley in the vintage HSR Daytona races in the 1990-2008 time period. He still had Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, FL. Brumos Porsche had a big tent in the middle of the infield for customers and invited guests. It was very much fun. It's now Jacksonville Porsche which is separate.

I am DVRing the 2023 24 Hour race with the NBC and USA network. I'll look at the IMSA website for current positions.

So far, I am really impressed with the car entries. It's a lot of traffic for the big teams and a lot of hope for the new teams. I am all in for the new Porsche prototype cars.

Good luck to everyone with only 20 Hours until the finish.

BTW, Daytona reported an almost 100% renewal of infield spots and tickets. You can get an outside (stands) ticket, but it's not the same fun.

Good luck DVRing as the multiple channels.
The Porsche 912 GT3 R needs a BOP adjustment as all week and today they are not competitive.
The Porsche 963 should hold their own, only to have the #7 already have th change the ESS, Energy Storage System, or batteries. Unfortunately, but the 2nd team that had to do it.
Will have to see tomorrow!

I'm sure you all saw it but there was a nice tribute early on today for Hurley & Peter honoring their overall victory 50 years ago. Good pic of both of them from back then too!
