I’m in the market for a 3bar fuel pressure regulator.
Lindsay racing seems to sell 2 non ORM FPR are there any substantial differences between the two?

Hey guys,
I’m in the market for a 3bar fuel pressure regulator.

Is there a good reason to buy one over the other? If not I’m going to get the cheaper one
I was going to point you to the time-tested Bosch 0280160249 unit, but it seems that one is no longer available, sadly. (Though maybe the official BMW dealer part is still that Bosch, I can't quite tell, but you'd pay dearly for that anyway).
I'm not sure I'd get either of the LR ones, honestly, unless you called and confirmed the brand, and that their price is competitive for that brand. They show the NLA Bosch part pictured with the BMW part number, and have no brand listed for the cheap one, so there's no real basis to know what you're getting or if the price is in the right ballpark for what they send.
Seems like the next best option to the original Bosch is the 3 bar unit from Pierburg (and OEM parts maker) and most places sell that one for $85 or so. My guess is that the expensive LR version is really the Pierburg, and that you could save $40+ or so buying it elsewhere. But that's just a guess.
BTW, not sure what year your car is, but toward the end of the '89 MY, Porsche changed the FPR to have a screw on fuel supply line (rather than clamp on). If you have an '89, it's worth confirming which one you have before ordering, since they are not interchangeable.

why do you want one? Unless you have different ECU programming or a standalone it will not help.
Very true. It would probably run worse. I assumed Mark has his system set up for that pressure, but if not, definitely heed Chris's advice!
The car came with uninstalled Lindsay racing Max chips. I know I can’t run them with the 2.5 FPR.
I still want to smoke the entire vacuum and boost system, ensuring that there are no leaks before I think of putting anything aftermarket on the car. At the minimum, if I have the chips I might as well have the correct regulator; in case I do decide to put the chips in down the line.
