Winter tires for 992S?

I would like suggestions on what winter tires anybody would recommend for my 992S. I wont be driving in heavy snow but light weather and ice cetainly will happen.

For my 992 TTS, I have a 2nd wheel/tire set for winter driving from Porsche (factory) via my dealer. The tires are Goodyear M+S Ultra Grip Performance "NA0" Gen 1 (made in Germany). They are specific Porsche rated tires but I don't think they are a listed tire for Goodyear North America. As such, they might not be available from retailers here but I could be wrong so please check that out first. However, you can certainly get them from your Porsche dealer.

The OEM tires for my TTS were also Goodyears: Eagle F1 SuperSport Max Performance Summer "NA0" (also made in Germany). I've been quite pleased with them so far. I feel they are every bit as good as Michelins and I love Michelin tires. (Not a Pirelli fan, however.)

Thank you...I'll look into that. I was the opposite of you.. My car came with the Goodyears and to me they felt so HARD, noisy, I gave them away and went with the Michelins this time..I have always had P7's on the last couple of 911's so far Im liking the Michelins....

Interesting take on the summer Goodyears. They feel fine to me but I prefer tires and suspension to be on the stiff side of things so that might explain my bias somewhat.

I am happy with the way the winter Goodyears ride and drive, but they were only on the car for a couple of months in early '22 so I don't have much to base my opinion on! Should be able to tell more this winter. Obviously the winters of whatever brand are not made or designed to be driven too aggressively, so comparisons are less meaningful when comparing to ultra performance summers.

Our Cayenne Turbo winter wheel/tire set are also from Porsche but they came with Michelin "N" spec (N0) Pilot Alpin 5 SUV. Fantastic winter tires.

My beef with Pirelli was wear. I've never had good luck with them in that respect although they have been fine in handling, ride, etc.

Our 2021 Mecan GTS (that my wife stole from me LOL) I noticed today that it has Goodyears all terrain tires but Im having trouble finding the 20" and 21" set for the 992.. But then i live in the middle of nowhere... Thanks for the input

Might try your Porsche dealer to see what they can get. Some dealers will match prices from Tire Rack, local discounters, etc. Using your dealer keeps service with Porsche, not a bad thing considering you have a 992 Turbo S.

Meanwhile, if you search by model for winter tires for a 992 TTS you won't find anything. The reason is that the factory OEM tires for Turbo S are ultra performance summer-only 255/35ZR20 (front) and 315/30ZR21 (rear). There are no winter tires that size, Porsche "N" spec or otherwise. (I don't think winter tires are made in those sizes at this time by any manufacturer, at least not as far as I can tell.)

But that's ok because those are not the correct sizes for winter tires for a 992 TTS. Porsche calls for 245/35R20 (front) and 305/30R21 (rear) winters for the 992 TTS.

Search those two sizes at Tire rack and you should find Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance Gen-1 (Porsche spec NA0) & Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 (Porsche spec NA5). There are also a few other non-Porsche spec winter tires from Pirelli and Continental in the correct size but I'd recommend sticking with the Porsche spec Goodyears or Michelins.

Bear in mind that many tires are still often difficult to come by and may not show up in all searches for that reason. Also, all good tires have become even more pricey these last couple of years.

I realize I've already said this, but if Tire Rack or your local tire dealers can't get what you need, try your Porsche dealer.

You're very welcome. Glad I could be of assistance! Also, in case it's needed, p330 of owner's manual has tire and wheel size info for Turbo & Turbo S cars. The winter tire sizes I mentioned are listed there as "Snow tires".

New guy, first post- but I’ve bought a lot of winter tires

I had the dealer order me the Porsche Carrera wheels (19/20) with Continental 860 S mounted. Tire Rack, my typical go-to, had me spinning in circles. I think I finally got wheels and tires that would work, but at the price of the OEM set. The only advantage would be that I would probably have them and be able to bring the car home from the dealership.
