Here is an STL for a custom Balance Shaft Pin Wrench for the 944.

It uses two #12-24 flat head machine screws as the 'pins' and a Craftsman #4, 8" Phillips screwdriver as the handle. (Any long phillips screwdriver will do as long as the shaft is round and 3/8" in diameter.) The holes are designed so that the screws need to self-tap themselves as you screw them in, for the tightest possible fit. The screwdriver is also a tight fit, and should slide in the full length of the Carpokes name. It's tight, so you really need to work it in or even tap it lightly to get it fully seated.

Once assembled, it works just like the $160+ factory tool. I printed this one in ABS (100% infill) and it easily holds the 33 ft lbs spec. I tested it up to 50 ft lbs and decided not to push it further. That said, if you have a stuck bolt to undo, might be best to print in a carbon-fiber filament.

Nice! I have wanted to get into 3d printing for stuff just like this!
May I ask what software you used to design this?
And which printer?

This one was designed in Fusion 360 and printed on a Bambu Lab X1C -- both highly recommended! Once you start designing and printing things, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

This is exactly what I was looking for and I hope to find out other 3D printed tool that can set up my timing belt replacement process less expensive. Thanks a ton!

Sadly the 3D printer I've access to said it needs 12.5 hours and that I dont have, unfortunately. So need to take alternate measures.

I was very excited to see this and give it a try. Printed with ABS-GF on a Bambu X1C on the strength profile with a few more walls. I should’ve used 100% infill. Went to try and remove the pulley and it broke. Maybe the bolt was more stuck than I thought. I’m gonna make my next one out of metal. Does anyone know what size the pin diameter is?

Wow. I tested mine to 50 ft lbs and called it a day, but if a bolt is stuck, there's no telling how much torque it might take. I'd try again with maybe 10 wall loops and 100% infill, and try and impact wrench if you can get one to fit. Or try PPA-CF -- it is crazy strong. The factory roll pins are 5mm.

Looks like another nice tool, I'm looking forward to putting it into use when I change out my belts and water pump soon.

Thanks for sharing this!
