Holy crap, Chris! What were the symptoms before you discovered the issue?

Do you have an EGT sensor? Heat shields? Back pressure? Not enough timing? Can't say I've ever seen that happen to that extent, but no worries, that should buff right out.... ;) I guess be happy nothing caught on fire!

Egt - yes
Heat shield- stock with additional covering
Down pipe ceramic coated
Timing - 22 to 24 at 1 bar
12:1 afr
The melting took place just above the top of the stock heat shield.
Ran two days at NY Safety Track with no issues. Watkins Glen has some extended full throttle runs.
Going to add some more heat shielding and wrap the down pipe, back to the track wed/thurs

If your EGT is reasonable (?), check if your heat shield is touching the big downpipe. If so, it becomes more of a heat conductor than shield... This is what I ended up doing when mine was hitting/rubbing...

Hammered and rewelded the heat shield, wrapped the AOS in real turbo heat blanket, wrapped the down pipe in Ti heat wrap….button up the engine and exhaust and made it back to Watkins Glen in time for happy hour before tomorrow’s event

I added an extension to the stock heat shield too

I like it. Whatever it takes when you're 12 hours out... :)

@chris white, what is the highest EGT you have seen with this set up?

Problem solved, ran for 2 days at Watkins Glen with no AOS issues. Now I have to get the coolant temp down a bit, just a little hotter with the big front mount intercooler
