Ok, this cannot be compared with the temp in the sump which I think is more relevant as it is where oil will be the hottest, as that is at the end of the lubrication loop. I only get my readings from the sump plug.

No sure this is a great video, my phone seems to distort the engine sound a bit

I forgot to mention I sat in the car with the laptop logging while I waited for the noise to start, it kicked in while the oil pressure was 4.3 bar in the motor and 4.1bar in the head so it not pressure related as I first thought.
Are you talking about the very faint, slightly off-rythmic rattle/tapping sound? If so then I'm not sure its related to your variocam tensioner as I've heard the same sound from both of my 8V engines. Sounds pretty normal to me
Well thats a relief, time for some boooooost. Hopefully will go for a drive and set the open loop boost targets this weekend and then dial in closed loop and wind it up to 1bar944crazy wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 9:47 pm Are you talking about the very faint, slightly off-rythmic rattle/tapping sound? Just got it back from the wheel alignment on Wednesday after the new bushes, KWs and rebuilt steering shaft it finally drives like a new car.. Im not sure how sure how confident I would have been winding up the boost with the way it used to drive, used to wander all over the place. Definitely putting the power down in a more controllable way now.
