Hi All,

I'm in the process of making some fuel lines to suit my new fuel rail and I'm at my wits end finding AN adapters to suit the hard lines in the car. I'm not super keen on cutting off the flares and using compression fittings. BATinc have nothing in stock and no ETA, has anyone else found another source for these adapters? (I'm assuming Devon is using the BAT adapters for the S2 lines he sells?)

From what I can gather the fittings need to be M16x1.5/M14x1.5 Female concave globeseal.

You want to go to Belmetric.com. They have the correct fittings. Another possibility is Fedhill. You would also be able to use the fittings out of the stock lines together with new ethanol rated high pressure fuel line (Belmetric again) and make your own custom Porsche hard line to whatever aftermarket fuel rail you're using. Good luck!

@icb : Do you have a link to which part you're referencing at Belmetric? I've only ever found the generic part, for AN fittings, at BAT. Belmetric looks like they have a part that works for polyamide hose, but would not work for making PTFE lines with AN fittings and AN/metric adapters.

I've never been able to find a distributor, but Krontec makes nice metric fittings for PTFE hose, so it's been sort of useless knowledge.

At any rate, I'd be mighty obliged to learn about new sources for those reverse globeseal connections.

ETA: The other place you can try is Precision Motorwerks. Be sure to call them and talk to Mary, as e mail is not the most reliable way to communicate with them. They have a good source for Goodrich fittings, and it looks like some of their 928 hose assemblies use the Krontec parts, so they may be able to get you what you need.

Cheers

Belmetric don't have anything in the correct size.

Devon Lyons has a source but I'm guessing it was BAT.

Krontec may be BATs supplier but from what I've been told there is no ETA for more fittings from Europe.

Im at peace with cutting the flares off and using the metric compression/swage fittings from BAT.

I'm certainly not going to pull all off the car.

Yes, I was probably too quick to respond to this post!
Looking more closely at what Belmetric has to offer, there will be a problem obtaining an M16x1.5 and M14x1.5 female threaded DIN flare fitting for rubber fuel line. However, it is still a simple task, in my opinion, to replace your fuel lines.

I'm only going to talk about rubber, because I think polyamid hose is an abrasion protection hassle.

I re-used the original Porsche fittings off the old stock fuel lines. Begin by carefully cutting away the crimp collar with a hack saw, leaving the fitting still attached to the old rubber hose. Then carefully cut the rubber hose axially/in line with the fitting without scoring the the underlying fitting's barbs. Pull the fitting off the old hose. There's your compatible M16x1.5 DIN flare connector. There will be nothing wrong with it unless someone has previously mangled it with incorrect wrenches, etc. If that is your situation, just buy a set of used lines from Plyhammer's or another 944 dismantler; they should be pretty cheap.

Attach this to a new piece of Cohline 2240-0600 fuel line. The type of line is important, it has to be capable of handling the fuel pressure, and it has to be rated for ethanol. I used Oetiker clamps, even though with no clamps on the assembly at all, it's impossible to pull the hose off the fitting (try it!); it works very much like a push-lock fitting. Anyway, since it's technically not an actual push-lock fitting, I used the Oetiker clamps. If you're flush with cash, buy collars and a hose collar crimping tool, Belmetric has those too.

Obviously, do this for the return hose as well (the M14x1.5). If you are connecting to a stock fuel rail/regulator, do the same for that end of the hoses. If you're attaching to some other custom fuel rail, obtain whatever connectors it requires.

Good information but the thread has gone on a bit of a tangent. I'm looking for fittings for PTFE fuel lines, rubber line replacement is a straight forward.

We make these bolt-on for the S/S2/968. They use the correct fittings, mating directly to Aeroquip socketless hose (-6).
If you have different fittings on the rail, they make just about everything to mate to this hose (AN/JIC). I could make you up a hybrid set or leave the rail ends to you or sell you just the hard-line fittings. Whatever you need just let me know.

the post using the fitting ends and the proper rubber fuel line is on the mark ,I used that way on my Mercedes fuel lines 10 yrs ago , not a drop of leak, btw I use the Oetiker clamps on fuel lines exclusively
