Is 991.2 the "sweet spot" for looking for a 1st time 911?

Tech and talk about the 991 and 992

I consider myself pretty fit for an older guy (I’m 77). I currently drive a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 with 18-way seats. I’m very comfortable getting in and out of this two-seater.
My previous Porsche was a 2016 (991.2) Carrera GTS Club Coupe. It was the best 911 I ever had (in a series of three that came before it). The 991.2 was bulletproof and I put quite a few road trip miles on it. It, too, had 18-way power seats (super comfortable).
Also, if you care about such things, the 991.2 still has the pre-digital interior, which I prefer. Interestingly, the 991.2 interior in my 2016 is identical to the interior in my 2022 Cayman (only difference being the AC vents).
If you can find a 991.2 Carrera equipped to your liking, you can’t go wrong.
Here’s a beauty shot of my Club Coupe just to wet your whistle.

What a good looking car. Stately. Even though you have outstanding replacements, you must miss it a lot. I know I would. (I love the 992 I have now but the previous 991.2 was hard to let go of. If it were possible, I'd prefer to accumulate Porsche's never letting them go...not very bright or doable but intriguing nevertheless.)

What blue was the car? It looks like it might be Club Blau. Whatever blue it is, it's beautiful.

Back to your post, the 18-way in my 992 are indeed super comfortable as you stated.

Yes, it is Club Blau, a non-metallic blue created for the original run of only 60 Club Coupes. Club Blau is now available as a PTS color on certain Porsche models.

Club Blau is available PTS on 718, 911 and Taycan, but of course PTS was cut off for all 911's a few months ago. PTS will be available for 911's again soon I imagine.

I'm looking at a couple of blues and a few greens - AzureBlue356 (5ZA) and ManausBlue (W50) are currently at the top of my blue list favorites but the ClubBlau is mighty fine. (My lists evolve and are subject to change. Lol.)

It's not the getting in so much as it's the getting out.

I had a 2019 911 Turbo that I liked a lot - Chalk over Espresso leather. The transition from that 991.2 to the 992 Turbo S took some getting used to.

Yes, the 991.2 cars are quite fine.
My '21 Macan GTS is also Chalk over Espresso Natural Leather. A beautiful look! You have good taste!!!! doc j

I’m admittedly biased because I just got my first Porsche and it’s a 991.2 but it is hands down, the nicest vehicle I’ve ever driven. Mine is the Carrera base model, with a 7-speed manual and it has just enough creature comforts without spoiling the sports car feel. I look forward to many miles of enjoyment with this car. In my total of 2 days (!) of owning this vehicle, I’ve been blown away by the comfort, performance and drivability.
