Agreed, hope to never need it but if you do you have a great option.

Last weekend I had to patch my front tire on the RS3. The reamer on the DynaPlug is so thin that it bent. I pulled out my slime plug kit and the reamer worked well. The slime plugs however kept not tearing in half and pulling out, so I used two DynaPlug plugs. Seems to be holding fine.

All my online research seems to point to Safety Seal as well. It gets nothing but good reviews and apparently is used by most shops. . I’ll be ordering a kit directly from them. Two things that are very important is the quality of the reamer and the compound of the plug.

Yesterday I ordered the Safety Seal kit that Norville suggested. It is not cheap compared to many others but it looks like an excellent kit. Good to have your feedback. Thanks!

Tire plugs are death incarnate. They expand the lesion in the tire rubber/belting!
I won't use this remedy on my golf cart.
Dismount the tire, insist on a patch to the inside of the tire at the lesion point, rebaance and mount. I have never had an inside patch fail in my lifetime!

It’s well known plugs are temporary fixes.

Kits of this nature are for emergency use if stranded in the middle of nowhere. Center locks compound the issue of cars not having a spare tire of any kind.

A punctured tire, most especially a performance tire, should be replaced ASAP, including those patched at a tire store with inside patches applied to dismounted tires. I would never drive a nice, high performance vehicle on any kind of patched tire beyond what was necessary to get me to a qualified shop for a new tire. That's just me.

I have had numerous tires patched (dismounted with inside patches) over the last 50 years. Since 1980 I’ve used the same tire shop. They let me know which punctures can be patched and which ones need a new tire. They err on the side of safety. I’ve never had a patched tire fail, however I don’t track my cars. I’d never use a tire plug.

I don’t think this is a patch vs plug conversation. If you’re at a shop or had it towed then it’s a no brainer. If you’re stranded then good luck with your patch.

Again, a plug is for emergency use only if in a situation where getting a car to a tire shop is not easily done due to time or location restraints. It's simply following a "be prepared" path.

For me regarding any sports or performance vehicle (ie: any Porsche), the tire is finished and ready to be recycled once it's been punctured or otherwise compromised.
