Fellow Carpoker Larry C “scrubbed in” with me this morning for some cosmetic surgery on my GTS’s PDK shift knob.
I recently purchased the Porsche GT3/GT4RS PDK shift knob from Suncoast Parts. It came with a black leather shift boot with black stitching. However, I already had a black leather boot with RED stitching from a previous Porsche. Since my GTS 4.0 has the GTS Interior Package with red deviated stitching, the red-stitched boot was the one to use.
After a slight delay in switching the boots, the install went smoothly and the results are quite an improvement, not only in the look, but the “feel” is changed for the better as well.
Not a cheap mod, but a really good one, I think.
Thanks to Larry C for the visit and help.

The shifter looks great. I’m calling Suncoast Monday to see if they can get the shifter with a Chalk-stitched boot. Deviated stitching for the leather GT4 RS boot is an option on the Porsche configurator site.

This looks so great -- very nice job. Any pics of the surgery needed to get it installed? I have to wonder if the 922 GT3 shifter could be used to replace the nub-shifter on my car? My car is due for servicing, and might just ask my guy at the dealer if he thinks the parts would swap over. But if you're on the phone to Suncoast and feel like asking that, please do. Awesome job!

I’ll let John @Leader pitch in. The surgery wasn’t too hard but I think there was a lot of pre-op time. @Tom do you know if the 718 GT4 RS has the same PDK shifter as the GT3?

Lots of Porsche pieces and parts are interchangeable between their various models. I’d be surprised if the actual PDK shift lever differs from the 911 series and the 718s. The shift boots are different between the GT3 and the Cayman/Boxster, but I’d bet the lever is the same.
A Porsche mechanic could confirm this.
The 992 variant PDK with the tiny “shaver” shift lever is different. I believe THAT shifter is NOT mechanical like the GT3/718 shifter.
