Attached is a PDF showing how to make a manual override switch for your 718's PSE system. This switch allows you to override the factory PSE switch (which has a mind of its own), and toggle between 3 different modes: Loud, Quiet, and Factory Stock. The basic parts to make this are less than $20 total, plus the cost of wire and supplies you may or may not already have. Part numbers and sources are listed in the PDF, along with a link to the installation instructions.

wow, this is impressive, I like it!... Given how many people have issues with the PSE, I think this will be a big hit.

Fantastic engineering and design Tom! Every aspect from the design to the PDF instructions to the images and finally to the implementation is incredibly professional. Most impressive!

@Tom,
Thank you very much for creating this guide with all of the very detailed information. Thinking where I want to locate my switch!

You're welcome! As part of the 3D-printed part I posted, I modeled the receiving port needed for rocker switch in the guide, so the switch just snaps in. That portion of the model could be adapted for use on a panel-mounted switch if helpful. That said, there's nothing special about the rocker switch I picked, so don't feel like you have to use that particular one if you are mounting on a panel somewhere. If you have a spare switch blank in your console, it could be as easy as a 3-way toggle switch as long as it is an on/off/on design. Or if you want to get creative and kill the long wiring, you could use a wireless switch like the one linked below to get the functionality of the commercial units at 10 to 20% of the cost.

Awesome thanks Tom! I’ll likely try a wireless version of this or a mounted switch somewhere. I’ll get with you when I finally get around to it!
