I think it is amazing that the 928 finally get some attention in this nieche of the market.
I really like what they have done with the interior and also many of the exterior changes. The front of the car could be better but really cool!

I don't have access to a 928, however, if you would check what type of bulbs are in the tail lights, I may have them. I supply complete External LED kits for 911, 914, 944.

I think the S4+, and then particularly the GTS with the horizontal bar in the middle, would do really well with LED arrays. Replacing existing bulbs with LED drop-ins can be an improvement, but it seems like they tend to be way brighter than originals. Lots of bulbs in the original housing already, so lots of lights back there as they came from the factory.
Pre-S4 cars (before 1987 models) with the separate lamp nacelles seem to do well with LED bulbs and some refurbishing of the lenses and especially the reflectors. Those housing seem to suffer more from water intrusion and therefore corrosion. Access to them requires some more-than-casual surgery even just for bulb changes.
The bulb warning system needs some upgrading if you change bulb types too. At least if you want to maintain original functionality.

After driving later cars, the original headlights and even the aux main beams seem woefully inadequate. Like yellow candles trying to support supercar performance, and they just come up way short. The E-spec H4's are better than the DOT blob-throwers as far as pattern, but even those can use some modernization I think. Of course the 8" lens size is a challenge. There seems to be a broad assortment of 9" LED units for some late Jeep vehicles for instance, maybe something that could be trimmed a bit to modernize the headlights anyway. Otherwise there are some projector retrofits to consider. Part of that challenge is building a clear polycarbonate lens to cover them. There are some H4 polycarbonate lens replacements available, but those won't work in front of projectors which already shape the beam pattern.
Meanwhile... The car I have now is being kept to original for all but a few invisible things. I had a workshop full of projects when I got the car 25+ years ago now, so I promised myself that it would stay original and out of the projects bay. So far it's been super reliable following that philosophy. Fingers crossed...
